WHAT IS LLLT

Low-level laser light therapy or LLLT for short is an FDA-cleared hair regrowth treatment that uses—you’ve guessed it—low-level laser light diodes energy to stimulate hair follicles by increasing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients treating many genetic forms of hair loss common in men and women. Studies into this treatment have revealed as much as a 39% hair regrowth across just 19 weeks of treatment.

LLLT DEVICES & TREATMENTS

  • MEDI LLLT Therapies can be administered in an in-office setting via hoods or overhead panels 600-700 laser diode, these will have the highest & fastest impact on your journey and are most effective when combined with other clinic treatments.

.

  • There are also many portable devices available that patients can use at home, Popular products include laser combs, which are devices that emits LLLT similar to a hair brush. Wearable devices such as various LLLT caps, bonnets, helmets, are also among the most common. these are usually 20-64 laser diode and will take much longer to achieve results.

HOW DOES LASER HAIR THERAPY REGROW HAIR

The hair growth cycle consists of three phases: growth (anagen phase), resting (telogen phase) and shedding (catagen phase).  When used with an LLLT device, the light beam irradiates photons into scalp tissues, increasing blood flow in the scalp and stimulating metabolism in catagen or telogen follicles, resulting in the production of anagen hair. This requires light of a certain wavelength, specifically between 630 to 670 nanometers. LLLT causes 3 things to happen when a light beam penetrates the scalp:

  • The photons of light act on cytochrome C oxidase leading to the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This is converted to cyclic AMP in the hair follicle cells, releasing energy and stimulating metabolic processes necessary for hair growth.
  • The release of nitric oxide from cells leads to increased vascularisation of the scalp distributing nutrients and oxygen to the hair roots.
  • LLLT works to counteract the negative effects of the DHT hormone by stimulating the cellular metabolism involved in hair growth. DHT is the leading cause of genetic balding and is the cause of male and female pattern baldness.

 HOW MUCH DOES IT COST

If you’re considering laser hair therapy, you’re probably weighing up the pros and cons of going into a clinic versus buying your own device at home. Unfortunately, clinic-based treatments can range from $90 to $150 each session. Since LLLT can take months to show results, and sessions are recommended at least a few times a week.

CAN YOU COMBINE LLLT WITH OTHER TREATMENTS

Yes, for best results and to excel-rate your growth combining LLLT with other treatments is recommended for the best results.
